Royal City Wrestling is putting on two Wrestling in the Name of Love shows in front of The Columbia Theatre (530 Columbia St.) as part of festival, with Love is Equal running from 4 to 5 p.m. and Love is Love taking place from 7 to 8 p.m. Details about all Pride Week events can be found on the New West Pride Facebook page or www.newwestpride.ca/events.

2. Make music at the unveiling of the newest piece of public art, Floralume, on Friday, Aug. 17 at 5:15 p.m. at 642 Front St. When people touch the “petals” under the emergency staircase on Front Street, they’ll trigger colour changes and music. Not to worry if you miss the opening – Floralume is staying put and you can try it out anytime.

3. Shop for treasures at the second annual Quayside Yard Sale on Saturday, Aug. 18 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The sale, being held on the waterfront promenade from 10th Street to the newly updated children’s park on the west side of the boardwalk, features more than 60 tables where people will be supporting efforts to reduce, reuse and recycle by selling a variety of items. The Lion's Club will be providing a food truck, and some neighbours will be performingsome American jazz standards.

4. Explore 12th Street and some side streets with West End resident Mary Wilson and New Westminster Museum curator Oana Capota in a walking tour where you’ll learn about the street's secrets, including its long-gone orphanage, homes, trams, hidden graffiti and sidewalk history – and a shocking story from the 1950s. The tour, part of the museum's Be/Longing and People Gotta Move exhibits, starts at 12th Street and 10th Avenue at 10 a.m. and runs until noon. Registration is required at 604-527-4640.

5. Hit the dancefloor at the Union Jack Public House and Carvery this weekend when the ShinDiggers perform Top 40 and classic rock tunes on Friday and Saturday night. The pub is at 525 Seventh St.
