Lord Kelvin students win Walk30 Burnaby New Westminster challenge

Lord Kelvin students came out on top during the recent Walk30 Burnaby New West Challenge hosted by the New Westminster and Burnaby Walkers’ Caucus.

The elementary school spent 5,300 minutes walking during the five-week challenge, beating all other participating schools in the district. For their hard work and determination, the school was awarded $250 to spend on physical literacy resources.

Kelvin also won the title of “Most Engaged School” with eight classes participating and two teachers tweeting daily about their students’ walking adventures – Stephanie Musgrove and Naimah Asad.

Musgrove’s Kindergarten class logged 1,300 minutes while Asad’s Grade 3/4 class counted 1,480 minutes. And Kelvin's division 19 students also logged more than 1,000 hours.

In all, 21 classes from around the school district took part in the Walk30 challenge.
