What do you know about 12th Street?

You can discover the street in a whole new way with Homes, Hangouts and Hidden History, a walking tour set for Saturday, Aug. 18 from 10 a.m. to noon.

Join knowledgeable walker Mary Wilson and New Westminster Museum curator Oana Capota for a walk down 12th and its side streets, exploring the ideas of home and transportation in the neighbourhood. You can learn about the street’s secrets, with its long-gone orphanage, homes, trams, its hidden graffiti and sidewalk history and what’s billed as a “shocking story” from the 1950s.

This walk is part of the museum’s ongoing exhibitions Be/Longing and People Gotta Move.

Walkers should meet at the corner of 12th Street and 10th Avenue (on the New Westminster side).

Registration is required. Sign up through the city’s online registration system at www.newwestcity.ca/activeliving.
