Members of the Douglas College Royals athletics program, basketball's Rachel Beauchamp and volleyball's Olivia Cesaretti and Reid Marriott were among those from across the country who were recognized earlier this month with Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association's Academic All-Canadian awards.

A fifth-year player with the women's basketball team, Beauchamp led the PacWest league in points-per-game (19.3) and rebounding (13.1) and finished third in blocks.

Cesaretti, a third-year middle blocker, was third overall in blocks average per game, with a team-leading 38 on the year.

In his second season at Douglas College, Marriott was a prime force with the men's volleyball team, registering a PacWest-leading .311 hitting percentage, as well as a pair of top-two placings in kills (313 total, 3.48 average).

The CCAA Academic All-Canadian award is the CCAA’s most prestigious student-athlete honour, epitomizing a commitment to academic success and athletic achievement.

The PacWest had 17 athletes meet the criterium from four schools.
