Royals rule in Herb House peewee final

The New Westminster Royals took the crown, literally, from their own tournament.
The peewee A1 Royals avenged an earlier loss, flipping the score with a 4-1 victory over the Richmond Jets in the final of the Herb House Memorial tournament on Dec. 30.
Lucas McDonald scored three times in the final, with Alexander Sy adding a single. Chipping in with two helpers was Oliver Nottingham, while goalie Josh Narain made some key saves.
To get to the final, New West disposed of Surrey 5-3 in the semifinal.

McDonald, Nottingham and Sy each tallied 13 points over the six games, sharing the tourney scoring title.
The Royals finished first in round-robin play, despite dropping the first game 4-1 to Richmond. They rebounded to top Seattle 5-2, blasted Surrey 8-1 and then defeated Langley 7-4.
In the midget C division, New West’s C2 Royals doubled up on Coquitlam 6-3 to claim third place.
