The Douglas College men's volleyball team is hunting for a league title, and has a solid hold on first place after winning the past eight matches.

There's one wall that doesn't need to be built, and that's the front line of the Douglas College Royals men's volleyball team.

The squad is already pretty impenetrable, and continued its rise up the charts both provincially and nationally.

The New West-based Royals improved to 17-3 in PacWest league play with a two-match sweep of the Columbia Bible College last week.

On Friday, Douglas blasted their valley rival 3-0 (25-17, 25-12, 25-14) and never trailed, getting powerhouse performances from Max Haronga and Eric Sundmark. In the second set, the hosts laid down the law with nine straight points to put the Bearcats on their heels.

Haronga finished with 13 kills while Reid Marriott counted nine.

A day later, the Royals repeated the effort with another solid 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-22) win, although CBC offered some resistance.

In the second set, the Bearcats edged ahead 20-19 before a 6-2 roll by Douglas finished it.

They'd do much the same in the third and final set. Haronga nailed eight kills and Ben Shand put up six in the win. Jared Collin picked up 27 assists and three aces along the way.

The Royals play the University of the Fraser Valley in a home-and-home series this weekend, before wrapping up the regular season next week against second place Capilano University.
