For more than 50 years, New Westminster’s Old Bavaria Haus has been serving nationally acclaimed German cuisine.

While previously the family-friendly restaurant was only open for dinner, it has now introduced a breakfast and lunch menu and extended its hours. Perfect for those who want to experience the finest in local German food any time of day.

From small family dinners to large corporate events, the Old Bavaria Haus can accommodate any dining needs, including birthday parties, holiday parties, weddings, and more. This cozy New Westminster gem is proud to serve traditional schnitzel just like Oma used to make.

Here are five reasons why you should make Old Bavaria Haus your next brunch stop.

Stellar reputation

Old Bavaria Haus is rated #1 in British Columbia for traditional German food. It’s one of the only places in the Lower Mainland where you can find traditional German fine dining.

If you’re craving schnitzel, bratwurst, or spätzle, Old Bavaria Haus is the place to find it.

Extended hours

Previously, the restaurant opened at 5 p.m. for dinner. Now, you can access traditional cuisine all day. Old Bavaria Haus is now open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week. You can reserve your table or just walk in for superior table service.

Expanded menu

In addition to its traditional German cuisine, the restaurant has added popular breakfast items that can be enjoyed by everyone. The breakfast and lunch menu is now available every day from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and includes french toast, waffles, omelettes, croissants, bagels, and more.

There are also German breakfast specials, including baked camembert, a based german cheese served with house-made cranberry sauce, roasted garlic potato pancakes topped with black forest mushroom sauce, and so much more.

Part of the community

A major factor in the Old Bavaria Haus’s decision to expand its opening hours was based on the needs of the community. Another breakfast restaurant down the street went out of business, and the owner noticed there was a lack of options for local residents to get their morning coffees and brunches.

Because of local demand, they decided to step in to fill a gap in the community and provide a place where residents, especially the local senior population, could have their breakfast needs met.

The Old Bavaria Haus has also been the long-time gathering place for the Rotary Club of New Westminster, which has a sign prominently displayed on the front of the restaurant.

Charming location

The Old Bavaria Haus is located in a century home that evokes the charming houses of fairy tales. The exposed wooden beam ceiling and bright, inviting dining rooms make it the perfect location for a relaxed family meal or for your next formal dinner.
