Elegant homes in a family neighbourhood are clearly a big draw in New Westminster, as Queen’s Park is the most searched-for neighbourhood by the city’s home hunters, a new infographic by property website REW reveals.
Despite this, REW's data analysts found that New West property seekers have sensible expectations, as the most popular home search in the city is a two-bedroom condo in the $500-600K range.
The graphic also looks at New West home sales and listings in the first six months of the year, compared with the same period in 2017. In contrast to other Metro Vancouver areas, New West detached home sale prices were 12 per cent higher than the year previously, at $1,315,984 (although it's worth noting that they have declined again in the past few months). Condo sale prices in the city rose even more steeply, to $530,622.
Unlike is often the case, it seems New West home sellers didn’t use the value increases to overprice their properties, with average listing prices rising at a slower rate than sales prices.
