Port Moody OKs 512-unit housing agreement for Suter Brook site

The Onni Group will build two 26-storey condo towers and a six-storey rental building on its last parcel of property in Suter Brook Village.

A housing agreement for the last parcel of the Suter Brook development has been given the go-ahead by Port Moody council.

The agreement with the Onni Group for parcel D at 300 Morrissey Road calls for development of 512 residential units, an increase from the previously proposed 290. The project, which will feature two 26-storey condo towers, will have 50 affordable rental housing suites and 26 for market rental in a six-storey building. The proposed rents for the affordable housing units are proposed to range from $1,037 for a studio to $1,7000 for a three bedroom of affordable

Onni has also agreed to provide a play area and open space to act as neighbourhood park for Suter Brook, to upgrade pedestrian access to Inlet Centre SkyTrain station, to install a signal at the intersection of Ioco Road and Capilano Road, and to make a density bonus payment of more than $16.6 million to the city.

Council approved the agreement although with a provision proposed by Coun. Meghan Lahti that requires the renters have access to the development’s pool and community space.
