Home sales in B.C. proved stronger than expected in June, according to the B.C. Real Estate Association — and New Westminster was part of that provincial trend.
“June home sales continued to outperform expectations, following a very strong rebound in May,” said BCREA chief economist Brendon Ogmundson in a July 13 news release. “However, rising interest rates will likely dampen home sales activity in coming months.”
The BCREA notes that 8,740 residential unit sales were recorded in MLS systems across the province in June, an increase of 21.9 per cent from June 2022.
In New Westminster, 120 residential properties were sold in June, according to MLS stats from Zealty.ca. That was up from 111 in June 2022, an eight per cent increase.
The average MLS residential price in BC was $991,648, up 4.7 per cent compared to June 2022.
In New Westminster, the median sold price in June was $705,750, up from $666,000 in June 2022 — an increase of just shy of six per cent.

- Most expensive: The most expensive (excluding a Sixth Avenue church property and properties being sold for development) is a 10-year-old home on St. Patrick Street in the Queen’s Park neighbourhood.
