LETTERS: Let's forgive unpaid bridge tolls

Dear Editor: I agree that taking the tolls off the Port Mann and Golden Ears Bridges was the right thing to do. This could actually help to stimulate our economy as more people use these bridges. But wait a minute.

Dear Editor:

I agree that taking the tolls off the Port Mann and Golden Ears Bridges was the right thing to do. This could actually help to stimulate our economy as more people use these bridges.

But wait a minute. We’re also told that unpaid tolls will still have to be paid even though the Highways Minister has said that the tolls weren’t fair to the people who use the bridges. I can agree with that statement as well. But my question is, if the tolls weren’t fair in the first place, then why should it be fair for me to pay my  outstanding tolls now? Obviously it’s still not fair. I’m not calling for a rebate of paid toll money, but I believe we should at least have the right to expect any unpaid toll bills to be cancelled and forgiven. And I believe we all have a right to a response from the Highways Minister on this issue.
