E. Fry Society not trustworthy

Dear Editor:

I am writing in regards to Elizabeth Fry and their decision to not move forward with their plan to have a daycare on their premises.

I researched this issue several months ago and brought it to the attention of our mayor, council and citizens of New Westminster.

E. Fry cites the licensing requirements regarding outdoor play areas as the reason they are no longer pursuing a daycare.

This was my main argument in my presentation to council. E. Fry was adamant that they would be approved for a daycare license and council benightedly accepted their argument.

This is an immensely important turn of events and the OCP change that council approved needs to be revoked. Anything less is unacceptable. How can an institution apply to change our laws without doing its due diligence? Why didn't E. Fry research the laws before their application? How can E. Fry proceed with their proposal when their assertions are false? What else has E. Fry omitted or lied about? Why did council stick their collective heads in the sand and ignore what the citizens of New Westminster had to say?

So the one benefit that my community would have received has now been taken off the table. Reducing the height of the building by one storey does not help my community. Stopping this commercial intrusion into a residential neighbourhood helps my community.

Council needs to revoke the OCP change, make E. Fry re-apply and not trust that an institution is going to tell the truth. Clearly E. Fry cannot be trusted to submit legitimate applications.
