Dear Editor,
Is it just me, or are others fed up with train noise at 3 a.m. on a Sunday morning?
Why is it for the most part of the week the trains go in and out of New West with a minimal amount of noise, but on the weekend, when it seems to me that there would be no one out and about, it is beyond ridiculous!
For the last two Sunday mornings a driver has enthusiastically blown the whistle long and loud at each and every level crossing, tree, blade of moving grass and shadow! You can hear him coming and going for as far as the ear can hear, at 3 a.m. I find it hard to believe it is necessary.
I know the trains have been here for years and years, but we are supposed to be working on decreasing the noise level. For the most part I think that it has improved slightly but, for what feels like one driver with a vendetta it is disrespectful of an entire community.
Also, I would like to add that we don’t even live at the quay, so I can’t imagine how loud it is down there.
With summer coming, people should be able to sleep with their windows open without being disturbed to this extent.
