Mayor Wayne Wright's disgraceful attitude toward those that question and challenge him is well known. Now he has outed himself with his comments in BCBusiness Magazine, calling those that oppose him losers. Wright's comments are utterly nauseating and prove once again that democracy in New Westminster is indeed as dead as the dodo bird. No wonder businesses aren't banging down our door to set up shop in New Westminster.
If Wright was financing this ego project from his own purse it would be one thing, but he is using money that doesn't belong to him and orchestrated a shell game with public money to get what he wants.
We, the financial contributor, the taxpayers have every right to question him and council on issues of spending. He was merely voted to fulfill the role as mayor, he wasn't anointed as emperor. I hope Basia Ruta, as our first auditor general for local government, makes New Westminster the first stop. I wonder how quickly Wright would label Ruta as a loser!
