Whistling in the dark

Dear Editor: Much has been said, and understandably so, about the rail noise as it affects those living by the Quay. I'd like to make mention of the noise as it affects those a little further on up the tracks.

Dear Editor:

Much has been said, and understandably so, about the rail noise as it affects those living by the Quay. I'd like to make mention of the noise as it affects those a little further on up the tracks.

Those in the area near to the Pattullo Bridge and on up the line to Sapperton as it runs parallel to Columbia Street, are subject to the screech of train 'whistles' at all times of the day and night and it all seems such an unnecessary provocation and health risk. Sleep is constantly interrupted by those screeching trains and why? The track itself is largely inaccessible. Crossings are gated and supported by warning lights. And there have been few if any reports of wildlife being struck on the tracks . certainly no grizzlies.
