Dear Editor:
This is from the Official 2011-2012 New Westminster Visitors Guide: "Canada Day Fireworks July 1. Join the Hyack Festival Association for Canada Day fireworks at the Westminster Quay. It will be the most spectacular display of the year."
I am not sure where spectacular came from. My husband and I, as well as families, showed up for a show that never happened. How do we expect to bring tourists to this town when we don't follow through with what we advertise. I checked the June 29 local paper, and there was no notice of cancellation?
Shame on those in charge. You left a lot of cranky children who showed up for this event, and parents to deal with the disappointment. Why advertise in a tourist book when you don't intend on following through?
