Dear Editor:

If you need a job, you will want to vote for mining and exploration in B.C.

The mining industry directly employs more than 9,300 people across every region of the province and indirectly provides employment for another 37,000 people.

The mining industry also has one of the highest average annual salaries in Canada. In the coal sector, which provides over 26,000 direct mining and indirect B.C. jobs, the average yearly wage for workers is $95,174.

During the next 10 years, it is estimated the B.C. mining industry will need more than 17,000 new workers with a wide range of skills.

But these new jobs, including 4,000 mineral exploration jobs, will only become a reality if we elect candidates who will support the continued growth of our resource sectors.

That's why I urge everyone to become informed before they cast their vote by visiting www.votemining.ca, because mining and exploration are vital to our province and our resource-based communities.
