Too much noise, pollution

Dear Editor:

On May 23, my daughter came over. She was not here for long when she said it was much noisier than when she lived with me. We are on the 16th floor. I told her it is due to traffic, and this is why we are complaining. More traffic equals more pollution. Who gets the brunt of this pollution? None other than city residents.

Questions to our "friendly" neighbours: How would you like to live on a street where thousands of cars and trucks pass by every day 24/7 and spew pollutants in the air which put your health at risk? Where safety is a major concern because of heavy traffic? Where your taxes may increase due to road repairs that may be caused by increased pounding of trucks and cars every day? Where you have to find alternative routes to avoid the traffic congestion, the majority of which is not from here, just to go home? What is the percentage of New West residents who use the Bailey and the Patullo Bridges?

On May 31, I was sitting on my sofa with my balcony door open. I have a Power5 Air Purifier by my door. All of a sudden, I heard a noise - it was my purifier. I looked out my balcony and saw a truck passing by. I closed my balcony door and my purifier slowed down, which meant my air was being cleaned. I am thankful that I have it so we do not breathe polluted air at home.

What happens to homes that do not have excellent air purifiers? We do not need any additional pollution from the trucks and cars passing through. Please let us solve the traffic and pollution problems for the sake of city residents.
