Dear Editor:
Re: City should be cautious about changing dog bylaw, Letters to the Editor, The Record, June 23.
Diane McQuade believes that the City of New Westminster should not change its current discriminatory dog bylaw language.
The reason? Her 40-pound terrier was allegedly attacked by a 150-pound bull mastiff one day.
Which part of the breed-specific language would have adequately prevented or even addressed the issue, since bull mastiffs are not listed as one of the breeds automatically deemed vicious?
I suggest that in the future Ms. McQuade actually read the bylaw in question before offering her opinion on whether or not it should be revoked.
