Dear Editor:

Our overloaded health-care system and professionals often get undeserved criticism. A vast majority of the professionals working in our health-care system are very hard-working and caring individuals. Unfortunately, they rarely get credit for doing a commendable job in a very demanding and stressful environment.

My elder brother, Gurbux Singh, in his late 70s, and a longtime resident of Burnaby, suddenly began to have difficulty with his breathing on June 22.

He was taken to the Royal Columbian Hospital in order to undergo some tests. The attending physician, a very kind cardiologist, immediately did appropriate tests and found out that my brother's arteries were plugged up and he needed immediate surgery. The hospital staff did a bypass within a few hours of his arrival. By taking immediate action, they saved my brother's life. To their great credit, the doctors, nurses and support staff provided excellent care to my brother before, during and after the operation. Due to their timely and superb care, my brother is making a fast recovery. My family is very thankful to the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff for saving my brother's life and making his stay in the hospital a very pleasant one. It is a welldeserved compliment to them all.
