Teachers can be bullies

DEAR EDITOR:

In the early 1970s, when teacher-initiated corporal punishment was in the process of gradually being phased out, I endured the most formidable, frightening bully of my life - my Grade 2 teacher.

I can't recall all of her abuse, though I'll always remember how she had the immoral confidence of avoiding any professional repercussions to find it readily within her to launch her knee towards my groin as I was backed up against the wall. Fortunately, however, she missed her mark.

It indeed cost me much by way of considerable loss of peace of mind throughout the years.
