Dear Editor:
A recent Sunday evening a friend and I were enjoying fish and chips and good conversation at a nearby restaurant.
We were not paying much attention to the other patrons and had not seen anyone we knew, but when we asked our server for our check she said smiling, "Your dinners have been covered."
We looked at her in bewilderment and were even more astonished when she added, "Two women saw you, and you reminded them so much of their mothers they wanted to treat you to dinner."
We have no idea who these women are, but we can hope that my friend and I have raised our children to be so caring for others as these women.
These random acts of kindness lift the spirits, gladden the heart and confirm our belief that most folks are kind and considerate of others.
