Dear editor:

Re: No, B.C. is not broke, Letter to the editor, The Record, April 6.

Hector Bremner makes the above statement when replying to Tony Eberts' letter asking why this province is broke. In fact, Mr. Bremner says that it's just a spin tactic used by the NDP to make the present government look bad. Which could be accepted if it weren't for the fact that it's actually this government that is crying poor!

You might want to check with Finance Minister Kevin Falcon, Mr. Bremner, because he's the one saying that there is no money. No money to lift our child poverty rate out of last position in Canada. No money to improve our legal system.

And besides, Premier Christy Clark says more money wouldn't fix the problems caused by taking away lots of money for the last 10 years, anyway. That certainly doesn't sound like a spin tactic at all. (Editor, please use font sarcastica bold for the preceding sentence.) And definitely no money for health-care and education workers. So all these financial accolades Mr. Bremner cites look good on paper, but don't translate into real life. It may be that the B.C. Liberals are good at working the numbers, but not so good at working with people. So maybe it's not the province that's broke, just way too many of the people who live here.
