Dear Editor:

Good grief! I am totally appalled reading the front page of the Royal City Record last week, as well as The Vancouver Sun, about the antics of Mr. Dosanjh. Please explain to us taxpayers how a man, worse yet a police officer in a position of trust and decency, could commit several acts of unlawful behaviour. He admitted his guilt, so in my mind these charges were no longer allegations.

Our hard earned tax dollars paid for Mr. Dosanjh's "almost four-year" hiatus - wouldn't that be wonderful in the real world, for us in the general public - only in New Westminster. Our police department have some bad apples, who are viciously protected by their own, including backing by our chief of police. We need to start taking these officers and our police force to task instead of turning a blind eye. Our chief of police, Mr. Jones, needs to give his head a shake.

We had a similar incident in our family, but not as serious as Mr. Dosanjh's charges. Guess what - our relative was locked up and brought up on charges and sat in jail waiting for a court date that would prove his innocence or guilt, obviously a step that the New Westminster Police department skipped - instead rewarding him with a sabbatical and a "very rare common law peace bond." Please!

This was one of the most disturbing and disgusting articles I have read in a very long time.

Mr. Dosanjh should have been locked up, stripped of his badge - much like what would have happened to an ordinary citizen in the same situation in our fair city. Instead there he stands on the front page, idolized for being a jerk.

I am in total disbelief.
