Dear Editor:

Re: Union prez says media missing the whole story, The Record, Jan. 20.

Since concerns about a New Westminster Secondary School math class have recently come into the open, the community coffee shop talk has it that the same concerns have circulated for years.

New Westminster Teachers' Union president Grant Osborne confessed the union has been aware of the situation for some time. Furthermore, Mr. Osborne alleges district administration knew too and did look into it.

That's fine and well, but I didn't know, and my unsuspecting grandchild really stepped into it.

And every semester there's another fresh-faced, unsuspecting cohort of neighborhood kids who, through no fault of their own, step into it too; just as my grandchild did.

If the situation had been effectively addressed with children's best interests at heart, why do the same concerns continue to circulate? Something stinks.

Please, will someone put students first and clean up the mess before another unsuspecting child falls victim?
