Dear Editor:
Re: New Westminster resident launches No Coal petition, The Record, April 12.
We have the right to protest. But it seems peculiar that, with an election looming, here comes a perfect political protest.
The port authority already has the permits etc., to do what they want. Surrey, New West, Delta and Vancouver have no jurisdiction over this - just the feds. So how did that work out for Vancouver and the Coast Guard station? Right or wrong, this is a done deal unless you have a pipeline to Ottawa.
We all have a right to protest, but let's fight when there is something to win besides more newspaper ink and not get peoples' hopes up.
