No more New West bridges

Dear Editor:

The last thing New Westminster needs is another bridge, especially one running through Sapperton with its current traffic congestion. Directing traffic from the west side to the east side of the city is just shifting the problem, not resolving it.

Councillor Jonathan Cote's suggestion that serious thought should be given to putting a minimum toll ($1) on all bridges and main roads (such as Brunette Avenue and Columbia Street/Stewardson Way).

If we tolled the 400,000-plus vehicles that drive through our city daily, we could soon afford a tunnel and keep the traffic, noise and pollution controlled and our roads in good repair.
