This year is the New Westminster Public Library’s 150th anniversary, and as our gift, we’ve got 150 challenges for our Adult Summer Reading Club.
We want to celebrate the many ways the library serves the community, with a diverse set of challenges that will have you exploring and using the library like never before. Prepare to be amazed at how many great books, DVDs, CDs and other resources the library has, just for you.
Reading challenge booklets have been available since July 6, from both NWPL branches. Pick one up and use it to keep track of your progress, but there’s no obligation to complete all 150 challenges. Think of it as a passport to self-discovery and an invitation to broaden your horizons with new books, movies, music and digital resources.
You can break out of a reading rut and try a new author or genre. Or, indulge your desire to take up a new hobby. Let these challenges lead you to the ends of the shelves and the deepest, darkest corners of the library. Allow us to stir your imagination, spark your creativity and knock your literary socks off.
There are also monthly prizes and a grand prize draw at the end of the summer. To enter the draw, share your completed reading challenges with us. You can use Facebook, Twitter or Instagram too.
Connect with us online using the hashtags #NWPL150 and #NW
PLreads. You can also search these hashtags to see what other people are doing for their reading challenges. Dare your friends to see who can complete the most challenges this summer.
Be sure to pick up your own reading challenge booklet and don’t forget to watch for more tie-ins to celebrate 150 years of NWPL, including our anniversary party on Saturday, Aug. 15.
