Dear Editor:
Re: Lost river view irks city resident, The Record, March 28. Three quick points on the full-page story which appeared in your newspaper:
? The lot on which the new Northbank development is being built has been an eyesore for many, many years. Nothing says "welcome to our downtown" like a garbage-, weed-, scrub bushes-and graffiti-filled property.
? If the residents of the existing highrise were so concerned about losing their views, why did they not consider collectively buying the property in front of their building and then donating it to the city as a park that would never be built on.
? Next time the residents in the existing highrise leave their home for an outing, have a look up the hill to see which views of the river they have been blocking since their building was built.
I look forward to seeing this development get built.
It will add a nicer look to the property and also bring in residents and more taxes to help support the many city services that people want and demand to be provided to for them.
