Motorbikes too noisy

Dear Editor:
As a resident of uptown New Westminster, I am becoming very frustrated with the never-ending racket from a few motorcycles with the extremely loud pipes.
There is a small number of them that are often raced up and down Sixth Street past the Royal City Centre mall late into the evening hours, sometimes until midnight.
This makes it very difficult to sleep, and with the heat of summer, and having to open windows and balcony doors to keep from suffocating, it would be nice to see the operators of the noisy machines realize they are disrupting the neighbourhood.
Most of the bikes passing by are relatively quiet, but there are several that are habitually raced in both directions on Sixth Street. It seems that the street is being used as a race track.
It appears that New Westminster does not have any anti-noise bylaws or that if it does, the police can’t be bothered to enforce them. This problem is particularly chronic in the summer time.
I would like to see something done about this as I am sure that many others in the neighbourhood feel the same way.  As I previously stated, most of the bikes have a tolerable noise level and I am fine with that.
My complaint is about possibly two or three bikes that repeatedly do make what I consider to be excessive and unnecessary noise.
There should be some kind of limitation on it.
