Dear Editor:

As a child I lived in New Westminster. One evening, about 1950 or so, some of us kids were sitting in the bleachers in Sapperton Park, which was across the street from Royal Columbian Hospital. I'm not sure what we were doing, but it was dark and the summer was warm.

I remember one of the guys calling out, "I wonder what it will be like in the year 2000?"

The answer that followed was, "Why should we care? None of us will be here!"

Well, are there any of you left who remember this?
