LETTERS: West End residents don't want highrises

Dear Editor:

Re: 22nd Street station plans.

I have attended all the OCP meetings. I did not hear one home owner who lives in the West End or Connaught Heights that wants highrises at 22nd Street station. Three or four storeys is fine,
but no highrises. I don’t know where city council gets the idea that we want highrises. Maybe from developers?

In her recent letter, Susan Dextras mentioned that city staff at the OCP were “almost hostile to any opposition.” Most were OK, but with one I had to raise my voice that we don’t have any amenities in the West End. At the very last OCP meeting, another staffer announced in a surprised voice that we don’t have any amenities. Gee, ya think? The West End Residents' Association is fortunate to have a local church offer a meeting place.
