I don’t think the 2,000 people who signed the petition against the proposed modular housing project on Ewen Avenue know what a “community” is.
My family moved here in 1998. My neighbours were kind, friendly, helpful and welcoming – the true meaning of community. Queensborough has always welcomed the underdog, even newcomers to Canada. When there was no housing or work available in other cities, people found accommodation and work here. Many of those early people built the community into what it is today.
Please don’t let 2,000 anti-community-minded people stop the women’s shelter from being built on Ewen Avenue. That is the location to build it.
