Dear Editor:
Re: Pastor takes on transgender rights, Feb. 9. As a female high-school student, I find it offensive and discriminatory that transgender people should be stripped of their human rights in order to prevent something that has nothing to do with them.
Firstly, the Canadian Human Rights Act is not trying to legalize sexual assault. It’s still illegal to go into a bathroom and rape someone. Secondly, there isn’t a lock that takes a blood sample from every user to find out whether they have an XY chromosome or not.
Anyone can go into a bathroom and rape someone without having to look like the respective gender. There is no security measure to prevent entry to a bathroom. It’s 2017. I thought for sure people would be allowed to pee without being harassed these days.
