We love living in New Westminster, Victoria Hill. We enjoy watching the working river and all that we have the privilege of viewing from our condo. We don’t even mind the constant trains, SkyTrains, automobiles and aircraft that pass by.

My question is why do we hear train whistles at four in the morning, when we don’t hear them all day? Is it because it is dark outside and they have to blow them?

At 4:30 a.m. on Aug. 15, the train passed by and blew its whistle for an unusually long period of time. I really didn’t feel that that was necessary to blow it for so long. Getting enough sound sleep is important for good health and being woken up unnecessarily is annoying.
