The time for understanding is long past gone, says this letter writer.

The time for understanding is gone; it's time to get tough on crime, says this letter writer.

Editor:

Sigh, another week, another stream of reports of assaults, robberies, break-ins, murders, sexual assaults and what have you?

It is high time that we get some damn good laws from our federal and provincial governments to incarcerate these animals for lengthy periods of time, in order to keep law-abiding citizens safe. But, as things stand, virtually nowhere appears to be safe anymore, and believe it or not there are still a whole lot of people who think we can somehow magically rehabilitate these thugs if we just understood they had poor childhoods or some such?

The time for understanding here is long past gone.

This mayhem and reign of terror will never end until we put an end to it by passing ironclad laws to lock these thugs up, and to keep them locked up for as long as possible.

The police can't be everywhere, all the time, so we are forced to have to count on the federal and provincial governments to get moving on it!. Time for these high-priced politicians to do their jobs and keep law-abiding citizens safe from these violent, repeat offenders.
