Letter: Stop being soft on crime and make the Lower Mainland safe again

We need to go back to a time when "violent, senseless crimes" were rare, this writer says.

We need to get back to law and order to make the Lower Mainland safe again, this writer says.

Editor:

It seems to me it is long past time for us to stop coddling the animals who commit acts of violence on our streets, random or not, on other people.

The Lower Mainland used to be a relatively safe place to live, but that was before our so-called justice system decided it would a really good idea to arrest these thugs, then release them soon thereafter, sometimes on the same day!

I blame every bleeding-heart liberal, soft-on-crime judge, police haters and all the other social engineers who ever excused the actions of these thugs because they may have had rough childhoods, or are addicted to drugs, or are deemed to be mentally ill.

Lots of people had rough childhoods, or are addicted to drugs, or have mental ilinesses, but most of them don't stab, beat, rape and shoot other people! And those that do need to be put away either in prison, a hospital, or a mental illness facility until such a time as they are able to exist among other people without being violent.

It is long past time that we stop listening to the soft-on-crime mob and take this country back to a time where law and order was the norm, and these violent, senseless crimes are rarely ever heard of.
