SkyTrain
Many New West residents are concerned that SkyTrain seems to be a lot noisier than it was in the past.

It's interesting reading the back and forth of people commenting on the SkyTrain noise.

My sister has lived in New Westminster for over 20 years and the train is a few blocks away.
It was always audible with the windows open, but the sound disappeared when they were closed. This summer, I have visited her twice and the sound is like nails on a chalkboard.

With closed windows and no hearing aids, I was awakened throughout the night.
By chance, she is moving soon and that is the end of her problem. But I am truly sorry for everyone left to contend with that ungodly sound.

It must be a maintenance issue, or sound demons have descended on the whole transit system. The train may have been there first but the noise is a recent addition.
