Letter: Our New West neighbour inspires us with anthem

Every evening at 7 p.m. since March, a young neighbour has inspired many of us to come out and make some noise to recognize and thank all the essential workers during these difficult, COVID-19 times.

Every evening at 7 p.m. since March, a young neighbour has inspired many of us to come out and make some noise to recognize and thank all the essential workers during these difficult, COVID-19 times.

I am writing to publicly acknowledge and thank Arjun for the thoughtfulness and commitment he has shown in playing O Canada on his trombone no matter what the weather has thrown our way.

Many passersby have stopped, listened, clapped, smiled and cheered following his example. It has become an important and positive moment in our day, shedding a little bit of sunshine on these unusual and at times, depressing days.

Arjun is to be commended for the example and maturity he has shown, never looking for praise, just getting on with the job of playing our national anthem. Our community is in good hands with young people like him taking initiative and taking action.
