'Old-style colonialistic approach to policing is dull and boring'

I am impressed with Coun. Nadine Nakagawa's forward thinking (on no increase to the New Westminster Police Department budget).

Myself and other New Westies I have recently spoken to agree it is time for a change. Our police department needs to come down to earth. This department is just too rich. This department seems to do as they please when they want and to whom they want. They do not seem to have to answer to anyone.

We are tired of the present policing model.

This department needs a breath of fresh air. Get out on the street, be nice and clean up the reputation a bit. The old-style colonialistic approach to policing is dull and boring. The police department here in New Westminster does not need more money. Money is not the answer. Openness, honesty, respect may be words to start with.

My message to our mayor Jonathan Cote is just say no to more money for our NWPD.
