Letter: I miss the Salvation Army's ringing bells in New West

This resident misses the bell ringing at one uptown kettle.

Donation kettles are back for those wanting to help the Salvation Army out this season — but one New West resident is sorry not to hear more bells ringing.

Editor:

I was happy to see the Salvation Army kettle at uptown Save-On a couple of weeks ago and the hear the familiar "ringing of the bells," bringing back those Christmases of the past.

But then, much to my surprise last week, there were no bells to be heard. I asked the Sally Ann person: "Why aren't you ringing your bells?" They replied that they had been told to "keep it down" due to complaints to the management from the gals working inside the door at Starbucks. Apparently, the gals were getting headaches from the "bell ringing."

Also, the kettle is a lot less full this year, according to the Sally Ann people.

Let "the ringing of the bells" return! It's Christmastime after all. We all need a little good cheer.

Jingle bells!
