Dear Editor:
Re: Booze at the movies? Hold the celebration, Our View, The Record, April 3.
First let me thank The Record for writing the editorial, in which some of the down-faults of this outrageous idea were outlined.
Movie theatres are predominantly patronized by young adults and families with children.
For the government to even entertain the notion of allowing the sale and consumption of alcohol beverages in such places would be completely ignominious.
To insinuate that these beverages would only be sold in designated areas of the theatres it is even more laughable.
Are they going to build walls between the drinking and non-drinking sections of the theatres?
Are those who consume alcohol during the movies going to take taxis home, or are they going to drive their vehicles under the influence?
I find this whole issue to be a sad and reckless one. I find it hard to believe that we live in a society where people can't even go to see a movie without feeling the need to have to chemically alter their brains.
There are times when we as citizens have to stand up and say enough is enough - and this, I believe it to be one of those times!
