B.C politics with local twist

Dear Editor: It is disgraceful enough the way in which provincial politics are being played out within our city council; but the extent to which city council is beholden to the "Labour Party" is truly staggering.

provincial politics are being played out within our city council; but the extent to which city council is beholden to the "Labour Party" is truly staggering.

What does our city council know about the benefits (or not) of privatizing liquor distribution in B.C.?

Are they privy to the four competing bids that are being received by the B.C. government? The provincial government is responsible for delivering services in the way most cost efficient for the citizenry (read: taxpayers.)

What business does a municipal council have wading in on this issue? Since when is liquor distribution a municipal issue?

Funny that our city council can find the time to support a moratorium on privatizing liquor distribution (which is not what they were put in place to do) but couldn't after 18 months make a decision which reflected the wants of the residents and expansion aspirations of the Elizabeth Fry Society in a manner that was representative of the constituents of Sapperton (which is what they are put in place to do).
