From the local to the national, there aren't many headlines that elude the eagle eye of cartoonist Ingrid Rice.
Rice (shown in a self-portrait at right) is responsible for the cartoons that grace our editorial pages throughout the year, and in celebration of the year past, we've chosen a few of our favourite images from 2011 to pay tribute to her work.
Some are pointed. Some are poignant. Some are downright funny. All of them will make you think - and that's exactly what they're meant to do.
