Ever want to see what a New Westminster cop does during their evening shift patrol? You can do just that this next week with a live-streamed ride-along.
The live stream will be run on the department’s Instagram account, @newwestpd, on Wednesday, July 24 at 7 p.m. It will follow Sgt. Jeff Scott and Const. Steven Hildebrand, who will be responding to calls, patrolling the city and talking about the job of a police officer.
“The purpose is to give the public a first-hand perspective of what being a police officer in New Westminster is like, and to allow the viewers to engage with us as we patrol the streets of the city,” Scott said.
“Instagram Live allows for people to ask questions as we go, and we’ll do our best to answer some of them as the night goes on.”
The live stream is set to run from 7 p.m. to late.
“I do not know the end time, but it will go into the night. There may be times when we need to adjust the live feed to ensure the privacy of people who we interact with through the course of our duties,” Scott said.
