New West amends budget for potential land purchase

The City of New Westminster will hire a consultant to help it develop and implement a framework that advances diversity, inclusion and equity across the civic organization. Diversity and inclusion is also something being pursued by the New Westminster Police Department.

New Westminster is amending its five-year financial plan to reflect changes since the plan was adopted on April 29.

On Sept. 9, council gave three readings to the the 2019 to 2023 financial plan amendment bylaw. The changes relate to one capital project.

“The 2019 capital program has increased by $1.15 million to address potential land acquisition and society costs,” said a staff report. “The project is to be funded through city reserves.”
