Looking for something fun this Saturday? The Royal City Pride Society is hosting a Festival in the Park, and organizers want everyone to come on down.

On Aug. 17, from 1 to 5 p.m., the Royal City Pride Society will be celebrating Pride Week at Tipperary Park. There will be vendors, food and lots of entertainment, including bands, a cover artist and five drag performers from across the Lower Mainland.

"We have a really good line up. It's going to be a lot of fun," said Shelly Reinhart, president of the society.

The bands performing are: Matthew Presidente, Neptune at Night, Dixieland Jazz ensemble and Really Rod, a Rod Stewart tribute artist. The drag performers are: Bill Monroe, local drag performer and queer activist; Mimi Michele of New Westminster; Mz Adrien; Mandy Kamp; and Stephanie Blaze, who has been performing drag for more than 20 years.

The bands and drag performers will alternate throughout the festival, and Really Rod will wrap up the event, Reinhart added.

"We have a nice mix of music, everywhere from rock and jazz to a tribute performer," she said.

The Festival in the Park, including the performances, is free for everyone. For more information visit www.royalcitypridesociety.com.
