MONTREAL — Joseph Woll stopped 57-of-60 shots as the Toronto Marlies edged the Laval Rocket 4-3 in overtime on Tuesday in American Hockey League play.
Woll stopped all 38 shots he faced through two periods, and kept his team up a goal when the Marlies were outshot 26-8 in the second frame. Woll was finally beaten on Laval's 46th shot 1:33 into the third.
Nic Petan scored the winner at 4:49 of the extra period to help Toronto halt a five-game losing streak.
Jeremy McKenna, Noel Hoefenmayer and Martin Marincin rounded out the offence for the Marlies (11-13-1).
Yannick Veilleux struck twice while Xavier Ouellet was the first skater to beat Woll for the Rocket (22-5-3), who had their five-game win streak come to end but still captured the Canadian Division title with a single point.
Laval netminder Michael McNiven stopped 29 shots in defeat.
