ABBOTSFORD — Southern Railway of British Columbia Limited says a road near the Canada-U.S. border crossing has reopened after it was shut when one of its trains derailed overnight in Abbotsford, B.C.
It says there were no injuries and "no impacts to the surrounding community."
The Abbotsford Police Department previously said in a separate statement posted to social media that 4th Avenue had been closed between West Railway and the commercial vehicle entrance for the Sumas border crossing.
The railway company says drivers had been unable to use the 4th Avenue public grade crossing while crews worked to clear the area.
But it says the crossing reopened to traffic around 12:50 p.m. Friday.
Southern Railway of British Columbia Limited did not immediately respond to a requests for information about what caused the derailment.
