The Lower Mainland under-19 team put on a late surge at the Canadian ringette championships in Burnaby.
The Greater Vancouver squad, including New Westminster defender Kiah Duruisseau, fell 7-4 to Alberta champion and eventual runner-up Calgary on April 13.
Duruisseau picked up an assist on the B.C. champion's 2-2 game-tying goal in the opening half. But Calgary rallied from a 4-2 deficit in the second half, coming back with five unanswered goals in a 10-minute span to steal the victory.
Earlier, Lower Mainland positioned itself for a run, knocking off rival Northern B.C. 2-1 and Ontario No. 2 Whitby 7-5 on April 12. Duruisseau picked up two more helpers in the win over Whitby.
The B.C. champs finished last in Pool A to bronze medal finalist Rive Sud of Quebec.
Ontario No. 3 St. Clements upset the favourites, winning the u-19 national title following a 5-4 victory over Calgary on Saturday.
First team all-star Josie Scott scored a goal and added two assists in the championship final, while goalie Alana Raymond made 34 saves for the win and a spot on the all-tournament team.
Sisters Sydney and Samantha Nosal both picked up a goal and an assist, and a spot on the second team for St. Clement. Paige Nosal led her team with three points, including a pair of goals in the final.
